Breast cancer

Drug May Stop Breast Cancer

 What is Breast Cancer

BreastCancer happens when abnormal genetic changes speeds up cell growth.   The genes are in located inside the cell’s nucleus.  The nucleus acts as the cells brain.  Normally, the cells in our bodies replace themselves.   Healthy new cells take over as old ones die out. With cancer, certain genes “turn on” certain genes and “turn off” others in a cell.   That changed cell gains the ability to keep dividing without control forming a tumor.

breast cancerIt is a Global Disease

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women.   The World Health Organization estimates 500 Thousand women die each year.  58% of all breast cancer deaths occur in less developed countries.  According to the American Cancer Society, a woman has a 12% chance of  being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Cancer survival rates

Breast cancer is always caused by a genetic abnormality   Only 5-10% of cancers are due to an abnormality inherited from your mother or father.   Instead, 85-90% of breast cancers are due to genetic abnormalities that happen as a result of aging and the life in general.

Survival rates from Cancer are high when the disease is detected early.  However, cures are rare when the cancer has spread.  If doctors can block the metastasis with existing treatments, breast cancer might be cured.  Medical treatments require a pill box to remember to take the medication.

Developingcancer is not your fault. Feeling guilty, or telling yourself that breast cancer happened because of something you or anyone else did, is not productive.  If you have any concerns, immediately visit your doctor.  Early detection can mean the difference between “life and death”.
